Amanita Store was founded in 2019 by Viktor, who works directly with foragers across the Ukrainian Carpathians to source, dry, and ship wild mushrooms — Amanita muscaria, Chaga, Lion's Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps militaris, and more than a dozen other species. Amanita Store operates as a self-employed business based in Lviv, Ukraine, and ships worldwide from the EU.
About the founder
Viktor began working directly with wild-foraged mushrooms in 2019, learning first through field experience in and around the Ukrainian Carpathians, and later through the practical demands of building a business that had to balance quality, traceability, delivery reliability, and responsible communication.
His experience is rooted specifically in Amanita muscaria and other functional mushrooms, where species identification, drying conditions, sourcing discipline, and batch consistency matter. Over the years he has studied habitat, seasonal variation, harvest processing, and the differences between raw formats, extract types, and label claims — treating mushrooms as a category where folklore, personal experience, and modern evidence intersect, but shouldn't be confused with one another.
Today Viktor is the founder, buyer, editorial lead, and day-to-day customer contact for Amanita Store, working from Lviv, Ukraine.
How we source and process
- Wild-foraged, not cultivated — every mushroom is hand-collected at peak season by experienced local foragers in the Carpathian forests, one of the most biodiverse and least-disturbed forest regions in Europe.
- Whole fruiting body — never mycelium grown on grain. No fillers, no binders.
- Low-temperature drying at 40–50°C to preserve natural compounds, colour, and aroma.
- Quality-checked batches — each batch is reviewed for quality before it ships.
